Our love for the Labrador Retriever gave us the desire to produce a dog with a good temperament and healthy genetic background. After searching we realized that there was an extreme lack in this area of Labrador Retrievers with proven genetic backgrounds.
We are located in the heart of California's Central Valley. We are a small family operated kennel breeding family oriented dogs. As a farming family with lots of acreage for a dog to run on, and a love for hunting at a young age I was constantly on the lookout for the perfect companion and working dog. The Labrador Retriever was the answer.
All of our breeding adults over the age of 2 years have had their Hips and Elbows certified withe OFA, and their eyes certified with CERF. We highly recommend that wherever you choose to purchase your next pup, make sure that if the parents are over the age of 2 that they have been tested and certified. Many breeders test just their studs which sounds good to most people but, if the female is affected it is hereditary and can be passed on to the pups. You should also look for full certification on a dog over 2, not just a preliminary test as a dogs joints change as they mature. Testing is not a guarantee that the pups will have perfect joints and eyes but it is a good insurance policy as if both parents have good joints there is less of a possibility that the pups will be affected. If you want more information on Hip or Elbow Dysplasia please go to the Orthepedic Foundation for Animals website at www.offa.org, or for information on eye screenings go to the Canine Eye Registration Foundation at www.vmdb.org/cerf.html.
True Labrador Retriever temperament is as much a hallmark of the breed as the "otter" tail. The ideal disposition is one of a kindly, outgoing, tractable nature; eager to please and non-aggressive towards man or animal. The Labrador has much that appeals to people; his gentle ways, intelligence and adaptability make him an ideal dog.
The Labradoodle is good with children and is easy to train. They get along well with other dogs, are extremely clever, sociable and joyful and quick to learn unusual or special tasks. They are active, a little comical at times and can attempt to outsmart their owners if undisciplined. They are non-aggressive and friendly, although obviously loyal to their own family. The F1 Labradoodle can be considered low to no shedding and hypo-allergenic. Although they are not as high maintenance as the Standard Poodle, they do require regular grooming. All in all, they have proven themselves to be a great family pet.

We have recently had all of our breeding adults tested for Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM) which is a hereditary disease becoming more common in the Labrador Retriever. All of our dogs were cleared and given a registration number. Any offspring coming from parents that have both been cleared have no chance of carrying the gene and therefore cannot spread the disease. Centronuclear Myopathy is a degenerative disease that can leave a dog completely crippled at a very young age. For more information visit the Centronuclear Myopathy website at www.labradorcnm.com.
